Being Bad at Popular Video Games as a Socially Awkward Person

            I am pretty good at some video games, great at some, but the popular first person shooters were the only ones that people cared about. I was always terrible at these games. I have discussed this several times in the past but, I only seem to be good at things that people don’t care about. Growing up there were several times where I was at a friend’s house with a bunch of people and played a game such as “Call of Duty” or “Halo” or occasionally “Guitar Hero.” Of course the expectations were high for me because I was awkward and played video games all the time, and each time I would disappointingly under-perform. The Championship Nobody Showed Up To

            I have only ever been good at things that people don’t care about. People care about sports, which I have always been terrible at. On the other hand things that I AM good at are things that people don’t care about at all. I have discussed this issue in the past a bit but never in much detail. In particular I am going to tell the story about the time I entered a video game tournament for a game that I was really good at, when I advanced to the regional championship, nobody showed up to compete against me. In this article I am going to go into detail discussing why this was one of the more embarrassing experiences in the early part of my life. Continue reading
